The
Temptation of St Anthony- Oil on canvas - 120 X 120 cm
(1985) This topic frequently illustrated by the painters, from
the High Middle Age to Salvador Dali treats mishaps of the
saint who, being withdrawn of the world to devote itself to
the meditation, is found confronted with his interior
daemons and his phantasms. The character appears with
three recoveries in the following table in a right angle,
construction dear to the alchemists. He is seen carried by
daemons in the sky, then on the ground after his fall. In the
right inferior angle, he is stopped in his meditation by a
gnomist who invites him to take place in the madness of
the surrounding world. This panel is the only one where
all portraits in double image profit from their own space
and are thus more visible.
