(1984) Satan, in the shape of a monkey, drowses on its gilded throne, carried by slaves guided by a daemon overlapping one monstrous animal (in bottom on the right).Frightened giants try to prevent him of an imminent danger: combatants angels fly down in cascade from the sky to destroy the troop of fallen angels which followed the Malignant one. This topic often treated during the middle age and the Italian Renaissance was the subject of the one of more brilliances masterwork of Breughel the old. The goat showing on his face the diabolic red pentacle ( bottom on the left) makes in spite of all a beneficial act:he shows with his finger the initial of the three great painters who inspired this work: SD for Salvador Dali, PB for Peter Breughel and JB for Jerome Bosch. |
