BARTOK :
Hungarian composer
born in 1881.
Known to have given his first concert on the age of eleven .
Known to have explored the cultures of Central Europe and
North Africa, and to have shown the common sources of the
musics of the Mediterranean areas.
Known for his musical aesthetics and his authenticity.
Known to have sacrificed his public life to the profit of his
creation, for his deeply human inspiration, his integrity in search.
Also known to have fled the Nazism in 1940.
Béla BARTOK died in New York in 1945 in the most
complete destitution.
His remains were repatriated only 43 years later in Hungary,
his native land, where he has now the stature of a National Hero.
